If you’re new to Tallahassee, you probably want to pay a visit to the Tallahassee Museum, the old capitol building, Florida State University, or one of many the other exciting places that make this town special. But the places that won’t make that official list are the ones that serve the best, cheesiest pizza pies around. We think those places deserve a list of their own.
#1. Gaines Street Pies
Like most places on Gaines Street, Gaines Street Pies is whimsical and full of fun people. Come for the amazing dough, stay for the people-watching. They have a classic menu, consistently great food, and excellent service. You can also order a drink from Warhorse Whiskey Bar, located in the adjoining room.
#2. Momo’s
Momo’s boasts the biggest slices in town. Seriously, one slice will last you for days! Customize it with your favorite toppings and wash it down with your favorite craft beer. Their bar area, quirky staff, and fun atmosphere makes Momo’s a great place watch a sports game or catch up with friends. They also have great salad and calzone options!
#3. Decent Pizza
Don’t let their name fool you, Decent Pizza’s pizza is more than decent. Huge slices, huge calzones, and a great atmosphere make this place a favorite on Yelp. They are also one of the best places in town to get a VEGAN pizza! Great for delivery or to sit down.
#4. Isabellas Pizzeria
A classic Italian pizzeria on Gaines Street with a wonderful staff, drink menu, and atmosphere. Although it’s a relatively new addition to the Tallahassee dining scene, Isabella’s got an impressive 4 ½ stars on Yelp! Their ingredients are always fresh and their wood-fired oven give their pizza crust a perfect smokey flavor. Make sure to try their gelato!
#5. Midtown Pies
Huge slices, great lunch specials, and a million toppings to choose from. What more could you ask? Midtown Pies is the big brother of Gaines Street Pies, and good pizza runs in the family. Don’t miss out on their garlic knots!
#6. Tifeo Italian Tavern
Tifeo is a trendy Italian kitchen located in Midtown right down the street from Lake Ella. The thin-crust pizzas put this restaurant on our list, but their menu includes all the homey Italian favorites: spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, soups, caprese salads, cheesecake, and much more! They also have a great drink menu and happy hour. Although Tifeo leans towards the pricey side, the Yelp community give them 4 stars.
#7. Riccardo’s
Another great choice in Midtown! Riccardo’s makes every item on their menu with a secret bread recipe that will change your life. Cheesy garlic bread, subs, calzones, personal pizzas: all made with the same savory dough. Riccardo’s has a homey atmosphere and is a great place for lunch or dinner. They also serve amazing German food one night a week, which Yelp dubs the most authentic in Tallahassee.
#8. Brooklyn Pizza
Simple, New York-style pizza. Nothing fancy, no gimmicks. Brooklyn Pizza on West Pensacola St is a staple for Tallahassee pizza-lovers and a great choice for delivery. They have great prices and an awesome staff. One yelper called it a the ultimate place for comfort food.
